Why in News?
The government launched the E-Samudra platform to bring maritime services for seafarers and shipping stakeholders onto a single digital system.
What will E-Samudra do?
- The platform provides services such as digital certificates, online payments, real-time tracking and a 24×7 grievance-redressal mechanism.
- It is intended to reduce paperwork and make interactions with maritime authorities more transparent and accessible.
- The wider digitalisation programme also includes tools for seafarer employment agreements, welfare and service tracking.
