UP Approves Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana for Girl Graduates

Why in News?

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the implementation guidelines for the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana. The scheme provides free scooters to meritorious female graduates.

Key Points

The scheme applies to the 2025-26 academic session and provides petrol-powered scooters, not electric ones.

Scooters will be procured through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.
The objective is to improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) and mobility of female students in higher education.
