Udmaroo Bridge Over Shayok River Inaugurated in Nubra

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated the Udmaroo Bridge across the Shayok River in Nubra, Ladakh.

The bridge reduces travel distance between Udmaroo, Hundri, Terchey, and Skuru villages by nearly 35 km.
It provides all-weather access to Sham Gombo (Yarma Gonbo), a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site.
The bridge was executed under the Special Development Package (SDP) of the UT Administration.

Shayok River → tributary of the Indus → originates from the Rimo Glacier → flows through the Karakoram Range → historically known as the "River of Death"
Nubra Valley → high-altitude cold desert in Ladakh → formed at the confluence of the Shayok and Siachen (Nubra) rivers
