Mission Golden Spice Launched for Meghalaya's Lakadong Turmeric

Mission Golden Spice was launched to develop Meghalaya's Lakadong turmeric as a globally competitive product.

The mission has an outlay of ₹175.45 crore and a five-year roadmap for 2025–2030.
It aims to expand Lakadong turmeric cultivation from 2,500 to 7,500 hectares and raise farmer remuneration to ₹80 per kg by 2030.
Lakadong turmeric is GI-tagged and has 7–10% curcumin content.
The mission is anchored by MDoNER and the North Eastern Council (NEC).
