MHA Sanctions ₹2,482 Crore Road Plan for China Border Villages
Why in News?
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sanctioned 111 road projects worth ₹2,481.93 crore to provide all-weather connectivity to 134 villages along the China border.
Key Points
The projects aim to connect 134 unconnected villages on the northern border under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP).
Under VVP, 528 villages have been connected with 4G mobile services, 625 villages covered with piped drinking water, and 621 villages provided electricity.
The Ministry of Power started 43 projects to augment power distribution networks.
The government sanctioned 140 off-grid solar projects and 7 micro-hydel projects for renewable energy in these villages.
For public services, 40 mobile medical units were sanctioned for Arunachal Pradesh and 146 projects approved for school infrastructure.
