India’s cheetah population reached 52, including 32 cheetahs born in India.
49 cheetahs are in Kuno National Park and 3 are in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.
India began the reintroduction programme in September 2022
eight cheetahs were brought from Namibia to Kuno National Park.
In February 2023, another 12 cheetahs arrived from South Africa.
In February 2026, India added nine cheetahs from Botswana
32 cubs born via natural breeding in the country.
