Why in News?
NITI Aayog released the report “Reimagining Care: Strategies for Empowering Caregivers in Viksit Bharat@2047” to strengthen and professionalise India's caregiving ecosystem.
What does the report propose?
- The report calls for a National Policy on Caregiving and a National Caregiver Council.
- It seeks better training, recognition and social-security support for people who provide care to children, the elderly, persons with disabilities and others needing assistance.
- The wider idea is to treat caregiving as an organised economic and social sector rather than largely invisible informal work.
