Why in News?
- ISRO successfully conducted the first ground test of the solid motor for SOLVE — Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments — at Sriharikota.
Key Details
- SOLVE is being developed as a test platform for Integrated Parachute Tests of the Gaganyaan Crew Module.
- During future tests, the crew module will be carried to roughly 10-17 km altitude and released so its parachute-based deceleration system can be evaluated.
- The SOLVE solid stage is derived from a PSLV strap-on motor with modifications for the test requirement.
