9,909 Indian World War I Soldiers Added to CWGC Records

Why in News?

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) added 9,909 Indian First World War soldiers to its official casualty database.

Key Details

The update followed research into historic records associated with the Lahore Museum and soldiers from undivided Punjab.
Many of these servicemen had not been individually commemorated in the Commission’s earlier records because of colonial-era recordkeeping practices.
The addition represents one of the largest corrections to Commonwealth war-casualty records in decades.

Legal Metrology Rules Amended for High-Capacity Weighing Instruments

Why in News?

The Department of Consumer Affairs amended the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011 for verification of high-capacity weighing instruments.

Key Details

For instruments with capacity of one tonne and above, the standard-weight requirement before substitution with constant loads has been reduced from 50% to 20% of maximum capacity, subject to a successful repeatability test.
The change is intended to lower transport and handling costs while preserving verification accuracy.
A repeatability test checks whether an instrument gives consistent readings under the same conditions.

MoSPI Releases Expert Committee Report on Energy Statistics

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the Report of the Expert Committee on Energy Statistics.

Key Details

The committee was chaired by Dr Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi.
It recommended greater harmonisation of energy data across ministries, including common classifications and conversion factors.
Major data gaps identified include biofuel consumption, captive and off-grid electricity, and electricity used by electric vehicles.
The report also recommends closer alignment with international statistical standards.

It was developed by the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation near the Boat Club area.

Key Details

JPNSV schools are run by the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department and provide schooling along with hostel, meals, uniforms, books and stationery free of cost.
The network serves students from economically and socially disadvantaged families, including SC, ST, OBC and poor General-category households.
Schools are affiliated with either CBSE or the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, depending on the institution.

ISRO Conducts First SOLVE Ground Test for Gaganyaan

ISRO successfully conducted the first ground test of the solid motor for SOLVE — Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments — at Sriharikota.

Key Details

SOLVE is being developed as a test platform for Integrated Parachute Tests of the Gaganyaan Crew Module.
During future tests, the crew module will be carried to roughly 10-17 km altitude and released so its parachute-based deceleration system can be evaluated.
The SOLVE solid stage is derived from a PSLV strap-on motor with modifications for the test requirement.
