Why in News?
India and the Asian Development Bank signed a $230 million loan for the Chennai Climate-Resilient Water Security and Sewerage Project.
What will the project improve?
- The project will upgrade water-supply and sewer networks, including pipelines and pumping stations.
- Chennai is set to use a ring-main water system — a closed-loop network that can maintain more balanced pressure and improve resilience when part of the network is disrupted.
- It also introduces digital monitoring and safer technology to reduce hazardous manual sewer inspections.
