Why in News?
Bihar announced the establishment of its first women’s university and also rolled out women-focused welfare measures under the Viksit Bharat–Samridh Bihar programme.
Key Details
- The proposed university is designed as a women-led institution, with the Vice-Chancellor, faculty and staff to be women.
- Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, ₹600 crore was distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer to 5 lakh women beneficiaries.
- The state also announced construction of 112 rural haats under the Viksit Bharat–Gramin Haat Yojana.
- Separate education reforms included a single-phase TRE-4, a planned Bihar Eligibility Test before Assistant Professor recruitment, and a student grievance portal.
