The Supreme Court has granted final approval for the ₹1,510-crore Kukrail Night Safari and Day Zoo project in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Key Points
It spans 855 acres inside the 2,027-hectare Kukrail Reserve Forest.
Phase I covering the Night Safari and Eco-tourism Zone and
Phase II includes a Day Zoo.
Its design is inspired by the Singapore night safari model, using specialized low-intensity lighting that mimics natural moonlight.
Key species include Asiatic lions, Bengal tigers, leopards, hyenas, flying squirrels, and gharials, housed in habitats modelled on grasslands, wetlands, and rock formations.
The project received clearances from the State Wildlife Board, Central Zoo Authority, and Central Empowered Committee.
