President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers Awards 2026 on September 5 to recognise outstanding contribution to education.
Key Details
- School category: 48 teachers from 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations were honoured.
- Higher education and polytechnics: 21 faculty members received awards—12 from Central Higher Education Institutions, 5 from State Universities/colleges and 4 from polytechnics.
- The awards are administered by the Ministry of Education and recognise meritorious teachers and faculty.
- The ceremony coincided with Teachers’ Day, observed on September 5, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
