The Ramon Magsaysay Foundation announced the three laureates of the 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award, widely known as Asia’s Nobel Prize.
Key Details
- Tommy Koh (Singapore) → recognised for contributions to international diplomacy and law, including work linked to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
- Runa Khan (Bangladesh) → honoured for social-development work supporting vulnerable and remote communities through the organisation Friendship.
- Bo Kyi (Myanmar) → recognised for documenting political imprisonment and human-rights violations.
- The Ramon Magsaysay Award was established in 1957 in memory of former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay; Vinoba Bhave was its first Indian recipient in 1958.
